Palms wins SCGA Amateur at Musgrove Mill
|
Greenville's Lee Palms came from two shots off the
lead to claim the 77th South Carolina Golf
Association State Amateur Championship at
Musgrove Mill.
Palms shot a final round 69 to finish at five under par
for the 72 hole event.
USC Upstate golfer Josh Gallman from Gaffney and
Virginia Tech golfer Will Oldham of Spartanburg tied
for second at four-under par.

Championship at Pickens
Country Club
Martin parred the first hole
of a sudden death playoff
to win the title from
defending champion Lea
Venable.

Revis wins second straight Budweiser Classic at Boscobel

Jeremy Revis of Greenville
won his second straight
Budwesier Classic title at
Boscobel Golf Club.
Revis topped Michael
Sims on the first playoff
hole for the championship.
The Budweiser Classic is
the largest open amateur
tournament in the Upstate.
This year 248 golfers took
part in the 36 hole
tournament.
Calvert is new SC Open Champion
|
Len Calvert, the assistant golf professional at River Falls Plantation, won the
SC Open at The Patriot Golf Club near Greenwood. The victory was Calvert's
first major Carolinas PGA Championship
Len Calvert won the South
Carolina Open to claim his
first Carolinas PGA major
championship. The
tournament was played at
the Patriot near Ninety Six.
Calvert shot rounds of
68-68 and 74 to win the title
by a single shot over Simon
McGreal of Greensboro.
The River Falls Plantation
assistant pro held a three
shot lead going into the
final round and needed a
par on the final hole to hold
the lead and claim the win.
While Calvert's final
round score was his
highest of the 54
hole tournament/
He was able to play
the final seven holes
at one under par
and that was the
winning margin.
The victory was
worth $5,000 to the
Upstate professional.
